I have done it. I just :%s/bought/preordered/
Purism's Librem 5 Phone.
I am very excited how this will play out, it's quite an investment into a phone, but I just hope that it will live up to it's promises and be even more useful than just a phone.
I mean, GNU/Linux natively on a phone, right?

puri.smI will start a corner on my hub dedicated to that device and write about my experiences as they happen. But as of now there's still plenty of time. Shipping will begin sometime during Q3, which could be in 1 hour or late September.
No idea how the customs stuff will work. Some years back when I bought the Greenaway DVD box from Australia I had to travel to the outskirts of Leipzig and collect it in person from the cusoms office and pay the import taxes. Greenaway being Greenaway there was / is some nudity on some covers and they are X rated (X 18+ Restricted, Adult themes, sex scenes, medium level violence), which resulted in some interesting remarks from the officers, who assumed I was buying some porn. Which would have been fine by me, just it was not the case. It was pretty obvious I was not believed. And nobody had heard the name Greenaway anyway. (And as I am quite sensitive to violence I have not yet watched them all. Even though Greenaway's movies tend to be stylized enough so that even my brain realizes that it's art and that there's an artistic meaning behind it.)
OK, but back to the Librem 5. I am excited to support this hopefully groundbreaking endeavour. I just hope I won't be disappointed. But GNU/Linux on a phone ...
PureOS, FSF endorsed, Debian based ... the ability to install any distro of my current liking ... I could even easily run Hubzilla on that thing! Even if it was just a local dev instance.
