This is a surprise for me. Maybe because I have not followed Vanessa's career, I still remember fondly her smash hit from the 80s but except from knowing that she has played in a few movies and that whenever I coincidentally heard her music I liked it. Despite as I remember radio presenters did not take her serious at the time. How old was she, 16? (Yes, but it was recorded earlier, Wikipedia says she was 14 at the time.)
Fast forward to today.
I just read a
movie review for a lovingly camp, trashy homage to the 70s gay porn movie business with a crime and detective story twist.
Anne is directing gay porn movies, but unfortunately her actors are being murdered by a killer using a knife dildo. She mainly sees this as a business threat, as it is becoming more and more dificult for her to find men who want to work for her. In adition she is having trouble with her girlfriend and ... oh, well.
The review says, this movie was loving trash, while using a merely artificial, neon coloured aesthetic. Seems like the director knew what he was doing to give it the slightly artsy touch that makes it even more enjoyable. If you are able to enjoy the irony and don't expect elaborate characters and storytelling this does have the potential of a cult movie.
This was enough praise to get my attenion. The movie is officially coming to German cinemas next week, currently it's part of an advance queer cinema special "Queerfilmnacht / Queermovienight".
And who is playing that porn producer? Anessa Paradis.
I am surprised and ... I actually may give this one a try.
I don't like trailers. I don't like this one. But it's all I can give you now.
