I have been wanting to post about this, but have not been in the shape to research enough information during the last days.
If true I am relieved that this outight ban is not happening.
But it does show how volatile such swrvices can be, a change in policy can set back the lifelyhood and income streams for too many people. And the fearful posts I have read have been ... not fun. Especially as sex worker do need support, do need normalisation of their work, removal of stigma and decriminalisation. Now.
Instead they get so many obstacles thrown their way, I don't get it.

I am not sex worker, therefore have only limited knowledge, but I think it is a valid business model and deserves respect.
And we do need services that enable revenue opportunities, independence, privacy, stability and ... respect.
It feels strange tonwrite this still, as it should be a given. Basics.

As an outsider I have not yet used OnlyFans. As a music enthusiast I'd love to see a service for example like bandcamp: sharing the spirit, being friendly while certainly earning their share and sometimes thinking outside the box of their own business streams, I am thinking of bandcamp fridays. For many months now they have been wiping fees artists would have to pay them for each purchase and allowed them to keep the money during these difficult times. In the past they have done the same but donated their proceeds to trans* support groups, at a time they lost their dunding by governmential decision. Yes, all that is not much, but it is a gesture and a very different one to cutting down revenue streams from those who actually made you a viable business after all.

Plus at OnlyFans sex worker who are facing discrimination and under-representation even among their own professional space could find a place. I am thinking of for example trans* men. Trans* women are somewhat established, within the audience, but trans* men have very few spaces to go. They do not exist at many places, there are no categories for them. OnlyFans provides services also for them, and this is important.
So, good bews for the moment, but it does show the urgent need for change. We are preaching among ourselves not to rely on services that could shut down or change their policies or decide to block us for reasons we sometimes even cannot dispute or influence.

For the sex work industry there are even mire problems. Piracy of tube sites and ithers is real. Over proportional power of one global monopolist is real. Read a out mindgeek. I avoid them alltogether as I believe their tactics are not always fair. And Pornhub as their most prominent entity tries it's best to polish itself for a cool and innovative space, but I have read a lot about problematic behaviour that I would describe  reflects in my opinionas disempowering behaviour of a faceless and cold monopolist that does have revenue streams in focus first, and the "subjects" aka people that provide the content ... are as far as I hear facing difficulties either geting a fair share or even their content removed if it was put on the site without their consent.
The industry has got so many problems, it can use a serious shakeup. And the vest place to start is
no more stigma
supportive legislation (which lastly needs to do little more but to ensure work place secirity, equal business chances, worker's rights, human rights, it is ... that basic)
critically and supportive thinking customers
oh, and no more stigma

I have not yet read Coming Out Like A Porn Star, but it is on my toReadList. But I vividly remember entering an exhibition at the Gay* Museum Berlin, turning around and there was a life size image of Jizz Lee naked. It just hit me. They are great. Much respect for them.
I guess you know Tristan Taormino? She is great, has a very informative podcast (Sex Out Loud) and beside having initially carved a niche for herself with her landmark book on anal sex, her curated short story anthologies, book on open relationship, her two books Feminist Porn Book 1 and 2 are just great.

I once wrote a review on Madison Young's DIY Porn Handbook: A How-To Guide to Documenting Our Own Sexual Revolution, which is so great it can be inspiring for DIY art and creation in general.

Right now I am reading Allena Gabosh and Jeremy Shub and
Sex Positive Now: Everything you need to know about sex positivity. I'd say it is a landmark achievement. Thought provoking, an in depth discussion of various angles and aspects. I do not know of any better book on this subject. A review is pending. https://www.sexpositivenow.com/shop

Oh, her memoir Sex By Design is ... very much recommended reading. Attention: there are several editions, ot got slightly expanded throughout the years.

@hEARt PhoniX Interesting, I've added it to my (very slow moving) reading list ;-) And yeah, if I remember right, it was an essay by Tristan somewhere on the interwebs that made me find out about ethical discussions around porn, sex work, and the associated universe of productions.
