As tensions escalate between the Wagner private military force and the official Russian military, one can't help but think of the civil war that erupted in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (described here:

This is where militarization leads. As governments and corporations are relying more and more on brute force to suppress social unrest and channeling more and more resources towards police and private security towards that end, they are creating the conditions for horrific civil wars on an ever-widening scale. This gives us another lens through which to read the events of January 6, 2021 in Washington, DC (see

It also drives home the importance of the fight to
#StopCopCity and block the militarization of the police.
