We are thrilled to announce that the OpenScore Lieder Corpus has now digitised over 1000 scores, all freely available to browse, listen, download, and share without restriction! We are hugely grateful to our community of transcribers and reviewers for the hard work they have continued to put in during these challenging times. One of our key goals for Lieder Corpus was to increase the prominence of women composers. The repertoire of 19th Century songs is one of the few areas of music where there is no shortage of female contribution, and we are proud to say that 53% of songs in the Lieder Corpus are by women. The initial focus was on songs by French and German composers, but we have recently started to expand to include songs of a similar style in other regions. You can now enjoy songs by the likes of: Amy Beach and Harry Burleigh (USA) Chiquinha Gonzaga (Brazil) Laura Netzel (Sweden) Alexander Mackenzie (Scotland) Charles Stanford (Ireland) Liza Lehmann and Peter Warlock (England)The Lieder Corpus has enjoyed this level of success thanks to the uniformity of the songs in its repertoire. This made it possible to train a skilled team of transcribers trained to tackle these scores specifically, and to invite some of the most talented transcribers to help out with the review. In contrast with this, many of the orchestral pieces selected by you, our Kickstarter backers, are much longer works with far more variation between them, and for this reason it has proven very difficult to delegate tasks to the community. Happily, the release of MuseScore 3.6 back in January gave us a number of powerful features that should help significantly in this regard. You can learn about these new features in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLR40BGNy68 PDF Postcards & Personalised ScoresIf you are one of the many backers that chose to receive a PDF postcard as part of your pledge, please send us a message at any time with your choice of published edition and we will turn it into a postcard for you.
